4 Post-Break-Up Confidence Boosters

"When life hands you lemons, make a lemon-tini."

That's my motto. I know breakups are never fun. But after you do the hard work of getting through it, it's your time to shine. All you need is a little polish! Here are 4 sure-fire ways to get your groove back.

Get back on your feet

"What defines you isn't how many times you crash but the number of times you get back up." - Sarah Dessen.

Sarah knows her stuff. There's no time like the present to change your Facebook status back to Single and loving it. Don't let that old baggage drag you down one more day. I know it's hard to click on that drop-down menu and hit 'Single', but you've got this.
Click it and move on. Done. You know what you've got now? Options. And options are awesome. You need, no you deserve, a little variety in your life right now. Set a goal to meet one new person this week. I don't care how... the coffee shop, that cute guy that just moved in across the way, speed-dating with your bestie. Just commit to yourself that you are going to move forward!

Look good doing it

“Sex appeal is fifty percent what you've got and fifty percent what people think you've got.” - Sophia Loren.

And do you know what that adds up to? Confidence. When we look good ladies, we feel even better. Why do we spend boat loads of (our parents) money and hours of prep-time on prom night? Because it feels so dang good to look good. We hardly even notice our date, just take our picture! So take a tip from high school you and get gorgeous.

If you need a little inspiration, here's my go-to get gorg plan that works every time:
  1. Step one - New hair that looks and feels good. Go for a cut, color, and a Moroccan oil treatment for extra sexy hair that makes men want to run their fingers through it.
  2. Step two - Buy yourself a pretty new outfit that fits you like a glove. I'm a bargain shopper so I get an extra thrill out of finding something flirty on sale!
  3. Step three - DIY face glow. There's nothing like smooth, glowing skin to turn heads. That's why I love at-home facials. This almond scrub is one of my favs. Or treat yourself to a day spa to feel extra pampered.
  4. Step four - Drink your veggies. Or cut out the empty carbs, or drink less wine... that's a tough one I know! Giving your daily food routine an extra healthy boost will make you look good from the inside out.

Be you

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”
- Dr. Seuss.

Sometimes we get so intertwined with another person that we forget who we are. We might even lose part of our identity trying to be what another person wants us to be. I know I'm guilty as charged. Time to take a refresher course on you. The 'I'm Awesome 101' course can shake out anyway you want it to. Listen to that old skool hip hop you used to love, but he didn't like so much or go see that fringe art house movie that he thought was boring. Load the t.p. upside down if you want to and wear the crap out of your fav jeans you've had since high school that are hanging on by a thread. Just be the you that makes you happy.

Fun is never overrated

“If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun” - Katharine Hepburn.

Living your life to the fullest might be the best confidence booster of all. Sitting home alone only prolongs the getting-over-it process. And that's torture. Trust me, I know. It sounds so simple to 'get out there and have fun', but I know it's not always easy. What you need is a little girl power. Getting out with your besties is a great way to let your hair down and forget about the past. Need some inspiration?
  • Get your Cuban groove on at a salsa club
  • Check out a local wine and paint party
  • Meet a hot instructor while learning stand up paddle boarding
  • Wear something sexy and summery and go party it up at a baseball game.

Confidence is sexy. You go girl!
